The Brainasium Difference

Does your child struggle in school, have poor grades, and have trouble with reading or spelling? Is he disorganized, easily distracted, and resistant to new situations? Does your child show over- or under-sensitivity to smells, sounds, tastes, touch, or movement (specifically, spinning, swinging, and jumping)?

If you answered “yes” to any of the questions above, your child may have a learning deficit commonly referred to as sensory processing or sensory integration disorder (please see the “Sensory Integration” page of our website for more information on this topic). This underlying learning challenge makes your child a unique learner. To facilitate successful, long-term learning, your child’s issues should be identified and addressed.

Brainasium can help.

Not a tutoring center!
Our dynamic, after-school program for students K-12 is significantly different from tutoring centers. First we identify the academic weaknesses and the underlying sensory integration deficits causing your child’s learning issues. Then we design a program targeted to his academic and sensory profile, to fill in the learning gaps caused by the processing deficits.

A learning clinic that values unique learners.
Brainasium’s program features one-on-one, customized academics, occupational therapy, sensory integration, and listening therapy (please see the “Resources” page of our website for more information on this topic). We utilize a unique combination of research-based curricula and a multi-sensory approach (auditory, visual, and kinesthetic) so that your child’s unique style of learning is celebrated and used to his advantage, while also addressing his weaknesses.

Brainasium is like a gymnasium for the brain! We employ physical movement and fun-filled, child-centered activities that engage and motivate our students. Occupational therapy sessions in our sensory gym feel like play - - not therapy! Academic sessions also incorporate physical activities like shooting baskets and bouncing on fitness balls plus fun activities that encourage the brain to multi-task.

“Wrap-Around” Approach to Learning
At Brainasium we believe that your child’s ability to learn is affected by many factors. That’s why we look at the whole child and take what we call a “wrap-around” approach to learning. Since nutrition is directly linked to attention and academic performance, our program provides a nutritional consultation with a Licensed Nutritional Counselor. Additionally, to help your family cope with the emotional effects of learning challenges and to adapt to the changing family dynamics as your child improves and blossoms, we include three sessions with a Licensed Family Therapist. Brainasium also collaborates with and provides referrals to Speech Therapists and Vision Specialists, when warranted.

Collaboration with School
Brainasium maintains contact with your child’s classroom teacher in order to assist with the adjustment at school, to communicate his progress, and to facilitate changes needed to reach his goals. Our staff members are available to attend parent meetings with school personnel and to implement a team approach for nurturing and supporting your child in the school setting.

Parent Communication
Throughout our program Brainasium staff keep in constant communication with parents. We provide student progress reports after every session, have mid-program reviews and exit conferences, and are always available for parent updates.

You’ll be amazed at the years of academic improvement your child will make!
Brainasium understands what unique learners need in order to be successful. We help those who struggle in school or have had no results from tutoring centers because we treat each student as a whole, unique child. And because our program is fun, our students are motivated and excited about learning.

Please contact us for more information about our unique program and to schedule your child’s evaluation.
